from UUMeadville website:

A visual display of the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
on August 6 and 9, will be shown in the Parish House from May 13 through 29.

The display consists of approximately forty 6’ (high) x 3’ (wide) panels, the
purposes of which are to show the destruction and human suffering caused
by an atomic bomb explosion through the eyes of those who witnessed it and
to provide facts regarding the development of these weapons from The
Manhattan Project to the current date.

The panels include photographs, colored drawings prepared by survivors of
what they saw, and charts, graphs, and writings which document the relevant issues.

The video is one half hour long and deals with the same issues. It is introduced
by a mother who has been praying for the soul of her son who perished in the atomic
bomb explosion over 60 years ago.

Neither the panels nor the video consider whether the bomb should have been
dropped. Actually, the first panel consists of a poem written by a Japanese citizen
that in a very moving manner acknowledges that without the Japanese attack on
Pearl Harbor and the other military actions taken by Japan, the atomic weapons
would not have been used.

With significant news about nuclear weapons in the media, it is important as we
celebrate Mother’s Day and Memorial Day to remember the horrible catastrophic
effects of war upon society, and in particular what happens when we lose site of
our sense of morality and ethics.

All are welcome to visit the exhibit during, the video is scheduled to be shown on
May 13, May 20 and May 27 at noon, and can also be viewed by calling the church
office and scheduling a time.

This exhibit is possible by the generous support of Sanford Kelson, esq. and
