Event: 33rd Consecutive Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo
Date: Saturday, June 14th & Sunday, 15th 2007
Place: Martin Luther King Park Jr.

Mark your calendars now!!! Don't miss out!!!. Parade begins at 12 noon shard from the corner of Genesee & Moselle St's, proceeds down Genesee into Park.

Saturday Schedule:
Praise & Worship 9:00am – 11:00am
11:00am SHARP Parade
Followed by Festivities in Park until 8:00pm

Sunday Schedule:
Praise & Worship 10:00am – 12:00noon
Followed by Festivities in Park until 8:00pm

*Festivities include: Main Stage Entertainment, Vendor’s Market, Food Court, Health Pavilion, Family Portrait Booth, Drill Team Competition, Exhibition Basketball, Book Fair, Historical Exhibits, Children’s Activities and more!

Come and enjoy a fun-filled weekend for the entire family! The Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo, NY is the second largest in the country. It’s mission is to “actively preserve and promote the broad spectrum of African American heritage through educational and cultural activities that will benefit the community as a whole.”

Pre Festival Events

June 2: “GET On The Bus” Juneteenth Festival Headquarters – 1517 Genesee Street – Meet at 3:30pm, bus leaves at 4:00pm – 7:00pm. sponsored by the Tradition Keepers. A journey to many important sites in the city with story telling at each site. Donation $10.00 includes bus ride, program and light refreshments.

June 3: Juneteenth Run for Health: Race will start at William/Emsile YMCA – Fun Run 9:00:00am – 5K (3.1) miles) & 2 mile fitness walk at 930am.

Friday, June 15: 8:00pm, Doors open at 7:00pm, Museum of Science, Northhampton & North Parade, Concert with Jimmy Ponder and friends; Jazz Guitar Concert - Tickets - $10.00 in advance, 12:00 at the door and/or call 891-8801 for further ticket information.

Sankofa Events

Sat, June 9: Langston Hughes Institute – 25 High - 12:00 Noon – 5pm Family Drum and Dance Value Restoration – meet Sister Chipo from Miami Florida. 6pm – 8pm Opening ceremonies commemorating the Ancestors and to the living among us.

Sun, June 10: Juneteenth Headquarters 3:30pm – 6:30 1517 Genesee Street – Youth and Young Adults speak “Holla Back” – We will listen to What is on the hearts and minds of the Youth? Natural Hair care presentation by Akosua and Nikki.

Mon, June 11: Frank E Merriweather Jr. Library – 1324 Jefferson 6pm – 8pm – African Conscious Workshop - Host Doug Ruffin and his Multi Media presentation on Buffalo’s Black History

Tues, June 12: EM Tea Coffee Cup 6:30pm – 9:30pm – 80 Oakgrove Avenue – Spoken Word, Power and Sound, a Redemption Song

Wed, June 13: Locust St. Neighbor Art Classes Inc. – 138 Locust Street – Where are we going? A generalization message with the adults (25 – 65) we will explore the direction of our people and where it appears we are headed in education, health, culture and global importance.

Thurs, June 14: Uptown Theatre 6:00pm – 8: 00pm 3165 Bailey – Seeking wisdom and history from our elders. Let us include the memories of our sages in our quest for direction and progress.

Friday, June 15: Langston Hughes Inst. 25 High Street – 7:00pm - ?, “International African Live and On Stage”, the music, dance, and spoken world of the Buffalo Pan African community, professional, youth and upcoming artists will display the multi talents that are blooming and available in the city.
