Video was filmed on locations in four continents and despite sad imagery in the beginning, has an ending that is very hopeful. Received a Grammy nomination in 1997. The song was a top five hit in most European
countries. In the UK, it remains Jackson's best-selling single. Notably, "Earth Song" was not released as a single in the United States.

Filmed in the Amazon Rainforest, Croatia (during the 1995 war), Tanzania, and New York. Local residents of these locales were used in the filming.

It is not clear at this point what the status of Jackson's Heal the World Foundation is.
